About HSGD
"Although I play these courses in tournament conditions, my favorite courses are playable for the average golfer as well. Versatility and flexibility in course design are easy to talk about but hard to execute. My design team and I are dedicated to designing fun and enjoyable golf courses. We take a “less is more” approach to design and utilize the existing terrain and natural environment as much as possible.
My favorite courses offer great variety in shot making. The daring risk and reward strategy of Augusta and TPC Sawgrass separates great shots from average, providing plenty of excitement and heroic carries for the professional and amateur golfer. Alternatively, the classic links courses of Scotland provide great variety in playing conditions with firm turf grass and wind. Links golf demands a totally different set of shots from players with its own unique strategic elements.
My design philosophy is to create unique, memorable golf courses all over the world that harmonize with the natural environment and will be enjoyed by golfers for decades to come."

The team
The thought of getting into the golf design business has been with Henrik for a long time and in 2015 he started Henrik Stenson Golf Design. The first golfcourse to be designed was Öster by Stenson, the first of two new courses at Österåker in Stockholm Sweden.
The goal for the Henrik Stenson Golf Design is that both average and professional golfers should enjoy our courses. Along with coordinator Sarah Skönby we hope to achieve that.

He has won more than twenty professional golf tournaments across the globe, including the Players Championship, and is a two-time winner of the DP World Tour Championship, the prestigious season finale of the European Tour. In 2013, he became the first player in history to win the FedEx Cup and the Race to Dubai in the same year. The “Big Swede” is known for his disciplined play on the course and his understated charm and charisma off the course. Henrik has built a truly international image and brand recognized throughout the world.
“I grew up in southern Sweden and was introduced to the glorious game at the age of 11 by a childhood friend who asked me to come with him to the driving range. From that point on, I was hooked. I spent countless hours on the golf course as a junior, both practicing and competing in tournaments.
I turned pro in 1999 and began competing on the European Challenge Tour and made my way to the European Tour, PGA Tour, LIV Tour and Legends Tour where I play most of my golf today.”
